I loved visiting the local cinema as a kid. I have fond memories of watching Disneys Original Beauty and the Beast. Sebastian had his first cinematic experience last December. Alex wasn’t too impressed as 1. He wasn’t invited and 2. It was Wreck it Ralph 2 #guiltypleasure.
I’ll forever have Fridays off work and as well has having family coffee dates we now have a new tradition of family cinema dates.
I have been patiently waiting for the release of Dumbo for what seem likes forever so as soon as the release date was announced our tickets were booked. A few Friday’s ago, with our new tradition in mind, we headed over to Vue in Altrincham. It was our first visit as a family of three and Sebastian was super excited to see the flying elephant. Tickets at Vue are currently from £5.99 and a family of 4 is £23.96 and they can be purchased in advance from the Vue website.
As soon as we arrived Sebastian ran straight over to the choc choc counter grabbing everything in sight. After much protesting he settled for a big bag of Areo mint bubbles. I chose some jalapeño laden nachos (because it’s not a trip to the cinema without nachos) and Alex opted for a hot dog. All washed down with a Tango Ice blast.
The foyer has everything you’d expect, popcorn, hot food, pick and mix and milkshakes galore.
*Public Service Announcement* When visiting the cinema with a soon-to-be three year old you need plenty of snacks. If you think you have enough you are wrong…
We took our seats in screen one. It was fairly quiet for a Friday which was excellent for us as Sebastian is one energetic child.
Vue Altrincham has six screens showing the best of big screen entertainment with over 870 seats. All screens are fitted with Digital Dolby 6.1 Surround Sound and Sony 4K Picture Quality. The stadium seating offered plenty of leg room (I’m 5ft 7) and a cup holder big enough for my Ice Blast. In addition to the latest blockbusters like Dumbo, Vue have also introduced ‘big screen events’, bringing live music and theatre performances and one-off showings of classics to the big screen. Experience life from the front row at Altrincham with some upcoming showings including Take That: Greatest Hits Live, Andre Rieu’s 2019 Maastricht Concert and Bolshoi Ballet performances.
The movie was just as magical as I expected. Sebastian was mesmerised albeit he got restless partway though and decided to ninja warrior it over the the next row of seats. Toddlers hey!?
Overall we had a great Cinema date as a family of three. Roll on Toy Story in the Summer!
If you fancy have a family date day at Vue Altrincham it is located on Denmark Street in the town centre just next to Goose Green. There is a car and taxi drop-off point at the front and there is a 10 minute walk from the Altrincham Interchange where you can catch the metro or bus directly to Vue.
