[AD – this post contains gifted confectionary from M&M’s]
At the grand old age of 34 I have come to the conclusion that 1. I can’t bake. 2. I’ll never be star baker on bake off and 3. I can now permanently scrub ‘food blogger’ off my list of blogging achievements.
In all honesty I had high expectations about my weekend baking. I mean how hard could it actually be. Bear in mind the last time I baked was in food tech at high school! So a good 20 years ago!
I was gifted a preview of M&M’s limited edition SALTED CARAMEL chocolates. Instead of gorging on a bag or two I thought I would get all creative and BAKE some M&M cookies…
So I found this recipe on Pinterest. Please take note of how Janes cookies look… After spending a months wage in Tesco I was ready. I’ll tell you now that I failed 100% on the appearance but boy did they TASTE GOOD – even the ‘burnt bits’ round the edges (they didn’t taste burnt).
The salted caramel M&Ms are a lot heavier than regular M&M’s so they sunk mid bake. Lucky for me I had a bag of regular M&M’s so I sprinkled them on top. The sinking was good though as they went all gooey.
The Salted Caramel M&M’s are now a firm fave along with the crispy ones.
I clearly need some extra practice in the kitchen! I salute you if you bake for a living! Have you ever had any cooking disasters? Drop me a comment below!
