If you’re a parent, you’re probably already familiar with In the Night Garden, the popular CBeebies TV show in which Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka have little adventures before going to bed. This enchanting TV show is now a LIVE theatre show and these loveable characters are beautifully brought to life with full-size costumes, magical puppets, and enchanting music.

We were kindly invited to attend the PRESS LAUNCH of the show’s stint at The Lowry Theatre in Manchester. I wasn’t too sure what to expect… we had seen a book-to-TV-to-theatre adaptation last year that I was a teeny bit disappointed in.
IN THE NIGHT GARDEN did not disappoint. It was truly enchanting. As soon as the theme tune started, I was filled with emotion and Sebastian’s face lit up in pure excitement. A moment to remember.

The show lasted just under an hour. My child has NEVER sat still for that long. He really was mesmerised. The show was beautifully narrated by Derek Jacobi and the life sized characters danced along to the popular songs featured in the show.

After the show we were lucky enough to invited to a tea party with the stars of the show. Sebastian came face to face with Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy. Oh my goodness! My heart strings gave a little tug when he ran over to give Igglepiggle the BIGGEST bear hug! (Obviously he was a bit camera shy for photographs).

Unfortunately the show has now finished at The Lowry BUT fear not, it is touring the UK until October. A full list of dates and venues can be found here.
Even though this was a gifted experience with We Blog North, In the Night Garden Live was on my ‘must do whilst Sebastian is still young’ list.
