It was 2016 and Sebastian was flat out napping in my arms. Unable to reach the remote, I found myself watching CBeebies (we’ve ALL been there). On this particular day, a familiar row of cottages popped up on screen. Only this time they looked different. The doors were yellow with a multitude of rainbow spots and some clown seemed to live in one of them…
18 months later I know exactly who that clown is – the one and only Mr Tumble and those cottages are in a village I have visited a million times AND where I got married. Styal Village in Cheshire.
On a chilly Sunday morning and gagging for a nice pot of earl grey and a slice of banana bread I thought ‘hey let’s see if Mr Tumble is in for a cuppa’ and off we went on an adventure to find this famous clown.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t in.
After a few selfie’s, flower poking, step climbing and general hooliganism from Sebastian, we left Tumble Row and went on a fresh Autumnal walk around Styal Village.

Nestled in the grounds of Quarry Bank Mill (a stunning National Trust property). Styal Village is full of ‘Barbie’ dream houses and it has the CUTEST wooden church (which I got married in)!
If your little ones are a Mr Tumble fan or you just need to blow the cobwebs off on a Sunday morning, then you need to visit. It’s perfectly quaint.
Let me know over on Instagram if you manage to find his cottage!

Late to the party here, but I didn’t know that Mr Tumble’s house was so close. I’ve often wondered where the pretty cottages were.
The amount of times I’ve been to Quarry Bank and said I wanted to go to Styal Village and never have done.
Ah you MUST go! There’s a lovely little village pub called The Ship Inn that’s worth a visit too! X
I’ve just seen this reply! Will have a look, I’m owed a day out for my birthday x
I’ve just watched a segment on this rank of houses on Escape To The Country and I *knew* I recognised them! A quick google and your post popped up ?
haha really? I’ve had a lot of traffic to this post in the past few weeks! I’m guessing everyone is on the hunt for Mr Tumble! lol
