Well it’s certainly been a while since my last renovating number seven blog post…Here’s a bit of background if you missed my other renovation posts.
Back in 2016 when I was maternity leave we bought a house. After 8 years of renting, we thought that the ideal time to buy our first home would be when my only income was a measly £500 per month! It was not just any old house. Oh no. A 1930’s semi that needed completely gutting. The walls were stained, there was an overpowering smell of nicotine and the carpets were circa 1970.
I’ve blogged about The Kitchen, Bathroom and Sebastians Room. Now its time for THE DINING ROOM.This room was absolutely disgusting. For a year it was pretty much a dumping ground and because we were on a tight budget we lived upstairs for a year. A WHOLE YEAR!It was most certainly ‘old lady chic’. The wallpaper was stained. So stained that even after removal the room still stunk of nicotine.
If you have remember from my Kitchen post last year we knocked down the wall between the dining room and kitchen because the kitchen was SUPER TINY. I mean, it’s still tiny now but at the time we couldn’t afford to go for anything bigger never mind extend the house. A girl can still dream…
The first things to go was the vile carpet along with the hideous fireplace and back boiler that lived in the chimney breast.
After a fresh plaster and a lick of white paint on the walls and floorboards the room was complete! OR SO I THOUGHT…
Introducing my pink walled beauty… THE COMPLETED DINING ROOM!!
TADAH!! She’s a beauty isn’t she!
