Well this blog post is most certainly is overdue! It’s 2020 and we’ve officially occupied NUMBER SEVEN for 3 and a half years… and guess what, it’s still not finished!
Here’s a bit of background in case you missed my other renovation posts. Back in 2016 when I was maternity leave with Sebastian, we bought a house. It was not just any old house. Oh no. A 1930’s semi that needed completely gutting. The walls were stained, there was an overpowering smell of nicotine and the carpets were circa 1970.
I’ve blogged about The Dining Room, Kitchen, Bathroom and Sebastians Room. Now its time for THE LIVING ROOM. Like the dining room, this room was absolutely disgusting. For a year it was pretty much a dumping ground and because we were on a tight budget we lived upstairs for a year. A WHOLE YEAR! It was most certainly ‘old lady chic’.
The wallpaper was stained. So stained that even after removal the room still stunk of nicotine.

After a fresh re-plaster, new carpet and a lick of the brightest orange paint ever. Our living room was transformed…

I totally love how we have styled this room and it 100 percent reflects our personalities. There’s no beige in NUMBER SEVEN. I have a bit of a plant / plant pot and photo frame obsession at the moment which is probably getting out of hand (especially when i end up killing the plants on a weekly basis). Homesense is my go-to place for quirky knick knacks. The wackier the better.
I was easily influenced by Instagram when purchasing the Ourika Wool rug from La Redoute. (If you too are tempted to purchase it please note that it will shed like you have 5 dogs for a few weeks – it gets everywhere. E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E).
I love love love our made.com sofa with rainbow buttons however it’s not the most comfortable for ‘everyday’ snuggling. We’ve actually ordered a new velvet finish teal sofa so watch this space…

Here are the details:
Sofa: The Richie from Made.com
Rug: La Redoute
Bamboo TV Stand: Habitat
